This sunday we invite you to join us at 1PM for a brunch where we bring our own homemade quiche. I love this food and there are a lot of different recipes.

Please bring your dish, recipe, photos and conversation. It is time to share and catch up.

Hang out for 30 to 60 minutes. Let's decide on upcoming events together. I look forward to your ideas!

What is not to like about quiche?

There are so many variations, I made one tonight, with parsley, jack cheese, red onions, cream, andI made the crust. I am looking forward to trying some other variations.

Came by to see what was going on, and I have a quick quiche question. Is there a way to keep the crust from getting soggy? It makes it taste just a little bit undercooked to me.

I haven't tasted our yet but I think that it really leans toward the ingredients used. I placed sauteed potatoes at the bottom of mine. I used a combination of heavy cream, milk and two cheeses. If you visit skdd.wordpress.com I have the majority of the photos up. I did my best to saute and keep the greasiness or extra moisture out. We'll see.

Belle, you have to bake the crust for a few minutes before you fill the crust. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the tips. So much easier to ask the friendly experts at HHM than to track it down on my own. When I reunite myself with my recipes this summer, I'll find the recipe I made up for my own "Egg Pie".

I had a cup of Stumptown coffee and a wonderful Cherry Hand Pie (apparently an Oregonian special) at my local coffee shop on the corner. However, for some reason I'm now craving eggs.

So, Belle and Catherine, what have you been up to since the weather has transformed into bearable and beautiful?

When I was chopping the gigantic onion, my eyes were watering too. I can smell the food up here in the loft and am going to go grab a slice. Joe keeps hinting he's ready anytime I am. he he.

Oh Theresa don't get me started! Yesterday morning my brother called me and asked if he could come over for dinner. So I invited my other brother to come also. Then some how along the way my niece and two nephews along with their families ended up coming too! And by 5:00 last night I had a full house!

I found out by 11:00 a.m. that everyone was coming. I made myself breakfast and then headed out to do some major food shopping! It was about 1:00 when I actually started cooking. I made sausage and peppers, fresh ham, and a big bowl of macaroni with fresh garlic, basil, olive oil, grated cheese and red pepper flakes. I also prepared a big salad, garlic bread, a hummus dip with fresh veggies and cranberry sauce with cumin, pears, and citrus.
My son and daughter helped me clean the house and set up all the chairs. And by 4:30- 5:00 p.m. company was here!

There's a mix of sun and clouds here, with a projected high of 63. It was lovely and cool and fresh when I was out earlier. I'm going out again to run a few errands, and I fully intend to dawdle. Here in the lush PNW, something will take root on and bloom from anything/anyone not moving fast enough. :-)

It would be so nice to live in a circle of homes and each night one person or family would cook for the neighborhood at the community rooms. So we'd only have to cook once a week, share incredible meals and conversation each night and do clean up.

Ha. You know what I mean though. Most of my meals are eaten alone because of our schedules and after you grow up, the family dinners are almost a thing of the past, unless you still have children at home or the siblings stop by a lot.

Quiche can be made ahead of time as soon as you have prepared it, instead of putting into the oven, place it into your freezer and after about an hour, remove it and wrap it very well. Use a label or masking tape to record the date and put it on top, or the front-facing side so it will be able to see what it is and when you made it.

It's time to get together for another weekend party. I would like a new theme. Perhaps Pumpkins and how we use them.
