Im having close to 100 people who end up staying for days afterwards. Im feeling overwhelmed, exhausted and angry.

Any suggestions?

ONE HUNDRED?? Oh, my. How on earth did that happen and where will they all stay? Suggestions - hmmm - for New Year's Eve or the aftermath?

30 stay at my house in the aftermath..... I need side dishes for New Year's Eve. Then they stay. I can't even think about that. The main courses are Osso Bucco, Potato and Crusted Snapper with a C, Fillet Mignon, Italian Chicken and I don't know what else. This is the last year Im doing this.

Simple roasted red potatoes in olive oil with garlic and rosemary is a good 'neutral' side and can be prepared in several large pans and cheaply to boot.

Orzo would be a good match for the osso bucco and also a good replacement for the usual risotto, which would just be too much work for so many. Are you making the standard gremolata for the osso bucco? I love that stuff and it also goes very well with broccolini or brussels sprouts. I would say two starches and two vegetables should be enough for the crowd!

I use to have to host big parties for my ex and all of his freinds and they ended up staying for a week or so. But 100 I think I would die. I live out in the middle of nowhere now so I dont have to worry about any one wanting to stay very long. They are afraid I am going to put them to work on the farm.

Absolutely. Prepare a list of daily chores in three sections: Morning, Noon and Evening. List what needs to be done to keep these lovelies entertained and then divide the chores. Everyone will have something helpful to do and they will soon understand how difficult it is to entertain a crowd for the weekend. Let them help. You are the host, not a hotel, plus it will give them something useful to do to fill the time, instead of laze around allowing you to wait on them hand and foot.

You will be able to enjoy more of your company. In fact, tell them that with their help, you will be able to spend quality time with them. Smile and tell them you are so glad they made it and, this is a great way to usher in the brand new year. Hope this helps.

100 people? Oh My Gosh, .....run and hide.
If that doesn't work, cater and have plenty of liquor. : D

There is that, Trish, you could hire people to cater and do all of the household chores. I would have to hit the lotto.

I took care of six people and the kitties today and I am worn out. Good Luck!

Sounds great. A really great and simple appetizer is Blue Cheese Coins. TOmorrow night is a Blue Moon and they would do well together. Great for dipping and the flavor is so good. Let me see if I can locate the recipe.

Here it is. easy, fast, makes lots and they are a very different cracker.

I'm sure it will all work out well, and we'll all hear about it later, how it went smoothly and how everyone had a great time.

"HAPPY NEW YEAR" to everyone and be safe.
