I took a chocolate class in high school. It was intresting and informative. I learned how to decorate with chocolate and how to handle it. That is the only cooking class I have ever been to but want to go to Lousiana and learn how to cook real gumbo and other stuff. -
Since I own a cookery school I might be biased, but I think they are a very good thing. Have to be hands on though... -
Attitude is the most important thing. If she knows the basics & is willing to have a go at new things she will keep on learning. As a recommendation, if she likes to know WHY things work or not in the kitchen, Harold McGee's On Food & Cooking is a must have book. Not a single recipe but it's the one I refer to most. -
The closest I came to cooking class was, Home Economics, in school. I have never taken a class besides that. I am sure though there is always some little tip to learn that will always be useful through the years.-
Catherine, Professional classes are so much fun. You get to learn new techniques, or hone your skills. SOmetimes you try new foods that you might not have otherwise given a second thought about. There are food lovers and an amazing community gathering, which gets one out of the house. The way Chef Clive teaches makes it nice because we can watch him from the comfort of our homes. I cannot wait for more.

Found out that the college near here has a culinary type program now and offers business classes. I am thinking about taking a few.
