Do you enjoy entertaining?

Many people find entertaining a stressful experience - even competent cooks struggle with the logistics of coordinating a dinner party or home event.
What are your thoughts? Which aspects of entertaining do you find stressful or unrewarding?

OH I get stressed about cooking for folks especially if they are in the kitchen with me!, I cook ahead of time and so its all done when they arrive, but its fun when everyone enjoys the food Rebecca

  I so agree with you Rebecca - prepare as much as possible ahead of time so you can actually have fun and be able to relax when your guests arrive is the key!

  This is key because most of my desserts are complex and take many steps before it is time to assemble them. The food part is a breeze. The dessert part is the challenge.

I love to entertain and cook for others. My mother-in-law took over every family function for YEARS and I hated not being the one to do it. Now we do it no matter what and I love it. Besides, it's a dinner party here nightly with 9 of us!

  We used to be seven when we were growing up. I miss those family meals so much. Annie you are fortunate indeed.

With our schedules the way they are, we sometimes have meals together. We seldom entertain but hopefully soon, this will pick up a bit. I usually end up in the kitchen with everyone getting underfoot, wanting to taste and feel a part of the preparations. It's a little chaotic but full of love, laughter and conversation. Unless there is a football game on and then everyone is in front of the telly.

I love entertaining. I like having 'silly themes' or decorations. fun times!
