Just wondering how many of you massage or roll your fruit before zesting, juicing or eating it.

I felt a little silly standing in my dimly lit kitchen, rolling my small Florida red grapefruit between my hands.

It seemed the more I rolled the fruit the more I wanted it. Now isn't that a little peculiar?

Catherine. Catherine, Catherine, By the time I cut the fruit in two and cut the individual compartments and sprinkled a little sugar on top I was salivating! It's been too long since I ate grapefruit. Now I intend to make a grapefruit sorbet tomorrow. It is one of the finest ways to cleanse the palate between courses.

(singing) roll roll roll your fruit .....

Always when I'm juicing something, I roll it on the counter top to help improve the amount of juice. Other than that I don't tend to molest my fruit much.

Let us remember that every occasion is geared around the food, be it happy, sad, sensual or stoic therefore food has powerful effects on the senses. The senses begin to dance just thinking about the food to be served let alone actually buy and prepare it. Food teases our thoughts...doesn't it for you? Just my two cents....

Oh buck! Never say I molested my fruit. Ravished is more to the point. It was perfectly scrumptious and cleansing, too. It was a radiant moment in the kitchen.

Catherine, I believe we are a little bit in love with the abundant foods we have to work with.

Better than prescription drugs. Cooking can bring one's senses into perspective one dish at a time. Love is in the recipe.
