Do You Shop In Your Mind?

I find that when the monthly food magazines and the department store sales catalogues are delivered to my mail box, I get excited at the prospect of looking through the pages of cooking and baking equipment.
Even if I already have an item, I find myself eyeing the the new ones and wanting to get another. I am drawn to them as a moth to the flame.
Times are not the best for purchases of this nature, so what I do is circle the ones I like and try to get this desire of kitchen gadgets out of my system. It doesn't cost any money and I get to stay pretty current on the new tools of the trade.
Tell me how do you handle your imaginary shopping?

I tell my mom what I want and most of the time I get it for Christmas or my Birthday. But I keep the magazines in a special place with the pages folded over. I leave them on the tables and counters hoping hubby will take a hint. Although he tells me I have enough gadgets a cook can never have to many. -
I do the same thing. I look at the magazines and think. I would love to cook that or have this. Then I think well, I can't get this now and I have done without it for this long so I probably don't need it. Then I think well people years did without so much more and created the best food. But, I do love looking at the magazines and thinking or getting a new idea. So much of what we purchase we never use anyway because it is too complicated or just too hard to clean. Then, it goes in the deep dark abyss of the garage! -
I enjoy looking at things, but I have very limited space in my kitchen as it is. Most of the stuff I really like to get isn't all that expensive. I enjoy little gadgets that just make life easier for the most part. I love to get new baking tins and what not and most are not very expensive so I can indulge in that.
Honestly, there's a lot of stuff out there that I just wonder - "Who would ever need something so huge and expensive to do one minor thing?" I could understand if you're running a commercial kitchen, but most of us aren't.
For the bigger things I need I just save up until I can afford to buy it with cash. My next "save up for" is a food processor. -
My kitchen is of a much humbler variety. I got rid of about 90% of what I owned, rather than try to move it all. Much of my new kitchen stuff came from the dollar store. Deeply into my minimalist phase now. It's what I do with the food I buy and prepare with those utensils that really makes all the difference. Bon apetit! -
Well, sure, who doesn't like to window shop? It's just that my needs are simpler these days.
