    Nothing like having a grade daughter to have to learn all these!

    Ok here is another one and it requires math


    You are a cook in a remote area with no clocks or other way of keeping time other than a four minute sandglass timer and a seven minute sandglass timer. (The kind you turn over - hourglass shaped) You do have a stove, however, with water in a pot already boiling. Somebody asks you for a nine-minute egg, and you know this person is a perfectionist and will be able to tell if you undercook or overcook the eggs by even a few seconds. What is the least amount of time it will take to prepare the egg? And how will you prepare it so that it is neither undercooked or overcooked?

      yes you should but only if you cover it in sausage and deep fry it like my scotch eggs. (still cant get the picture to load:( )

      I make Scotch eggs all the time! I meant, technically you shouldn't boil it beyond 'reaching' a boil - I was just being silly

      yeah I know I was too. I have the answer to the above but I am no good at math so it is to technical for me to think about lol

      Pour out half of the boiling water and replace it with cool water, hence, you bring down the temperature of the water. Add your eggs to the water and turn the four minute timer over. When the sand runs out, flip it over and when the sand runs out for the second time, remove the eggs from the water. Serve them to the somebody who is waiting and there you go.
