      Get a real bottle not the cooking wine. The rule is if you wouldn't offer it to someone in a glass then do not cook with it. Oh, saute some onions first only half-way and add them to the sauce five minutes before you're done. T/his way they aren't slimy and limp. They will still have the their integrity intact.
