Hello Amybyrd. Happy Thanksgiving weekend to you and everyone here.

We had a wonderful meal and I prepared it all. Because I had been sleep deprived, I cooked in a fog and was so exhausted by the time we sat down to pray our thanks and pass the food around, that I plum forgot to photograph any of my dinner. We had been moving and cleaning and selling our house. It was a complete surprise and we had to move quickly. We settled on Wednesday with little time to rush to the supermarket, grab everything, sleep for a few hours and an early rise and shine Thanksgiving day.

We had one-half turkey roasted @ 325 for 3 hours. I was told it would take 4 to 5 hours because of the weight. But that info was not correct; leaving my bird a little on the dry side. Next time, for the other half, 11 pounds should be 2.5 to 2.75 hours, so the meat will be the way I prefer. But it was a great lesson to learn, as I had never roasted a half of a turkey before.

New potatoes boiled and mashed, complete with small lumps, butter S&P sour cream and milk.
Turkey gravy with turkey pan drippings.
Oyster dressing Pepridge bread crumbs onion, butter, H2O, celery, turkey drippings & oysters.
Plain dressing Same, but without oysters.
Roasted vegetables onions, tomatoes, mushrooms, garlic, zucchini, asparagus, snap peas, baby carrots, EVOO and Spices, salt and pepper.
Snowflake rolls. Store bought, but for the surprise, I would have baked my own bread rolls.
Tossed Green Salad with bean sprouts, grape tomatoes, mushrooms, EVOO and apple cider vinegar or balsamic vinegar. Parmesan cheese slices, salad toppings fresh cashews, plump dried cranberries.
Pumpkin pie ... but I was too tired to slice it when I was packing to-go boxes and just handed it over to my sister. I sure wish I had some of it right now!

What did you do and which foods did you and your family enjoy?

The first thanksgiving we went to my father inlaw made fried turkey. He took the breast and sliced it really thin. Placed it in seasoned flour and then fried it in peanut oil. We hadd all kinds of food there too (to much to mention). We had close to thirty people and they all brought something.

At my parents we had a really moist turkey. They brined it in brown sugar, salt and some spices. It was so tender and it fell apart. The also roasted it in a roasting bag. (I am doing that with the turkey mom gave me some time this week so I will have pictures.) We also had squash casserole, green bean casserole, hashbrown casserole , dressing (homemade), gravy, cresent rolls, pumpkin pie and carrot cake. I will be making it for our dinner this week so I will take pictures. (For some reason it is embarrasing to family that I take pictures of the food. Who knew that but hey it is all good I will just cook it for the family and take my own pictures)

Sounds really delicious. That reminds me when I mentioned photographs, my bro-in-law said, "You're not going to take photos of us for the blog are you?" Perhaps that is the reason I blanked out on the photos.
