I went with a frien (she has 6 kids) grocery shopping today. I bought my nornal stuff (actual food) She bought a buggy full of junk food. In that buggy was 4 cans of corn one package of hamburger meat, 2 cans bake beans, 4 cans of tomato sauce and a loaf of bread that Iwould consider food. the rest were chips, canned pastas, and snack cakes.($150 worth) Then we made another stop on the way home for 20 2 liters drinks (They were on sale at this store). How much is to much and how do I tell her she is killing her kids with out being rude? Do you keep large amounts of junk food in your house?

I don't keep nearly as much since I started baking. But I still have to have my baked Lay's chips and my Seaweed Wasabi crisps (are those "junk food"?)....

Anyway, as for telling your friend she is "killing her kids" I'd strongly suggest not using that terminology or language. Perhaps inviting her over to cook with you and share meals might open her eyes to other ways of doing food or getting her interested in actually cooking. Many times people buy pre-packaged because they don't understand how easy it is to really cook because they were never taught themselves. I wouldn't judge if you want to remain friends.

I like Buck's answer! I had a dinner party a month and a half ago that had everyone asking if I cooked that way all the time and did the kids eat it. It was all fresh food and they loved it. I can't imagine eating the way your friend does!

I recall shopping similarly when I thought it was too expensive to eat fresh (way back when). Maybe she doesn't really know how?

You could ask her what types of foods her kids like and suggest you shop for her and show her the way to healthy food and eating. You can do it.
