We make smoothies with all manner of things and never use a recipe. We use yogurts, fruits and juice or honey if needed for sweetness, and blend away. One of our favorites is vanilla yogurt mixed with frozen raspberries and whirled to perfect smoothness. Yummy! I really like Fage yogurt, but any will do, really.

Thanks that sounds great!! I use Greek yogurts as well, I love them. I am also trying to find a recipe for a green smoothie, I think it has parsley, green apples and celery. I'm not sure how it will taste but I hear that it is very good for you. Actually I think Oprah may have this recipe on her website??? I'll check it out.

I make a smoothie for my husband every morning that's easy and yummy: 8 oz. of soy milk, 1 (4 oz.) container of soy yogurt, 1 banana,1 cup frozen strawberries, and one scoop of protein powder. He does Triathlons and trains 5-6 days a week- he likes these for breakfast on the days he does not train, and usually drinks one after his workout on the days he goes to the gym. We use soy because I am lactose intolerant (so we have no milk in the house), but you could do the same thing with milk and your choice of yogurt. I use my KitchenAid blender and the smoothie comes out great.

I found this one and it is similar to one we used to serve for our VIP's at the hotel's private club.

    Mango and Ginger Smoothie Recipe
    (serves 2)

    Ingredients
    8oz low fat vanilla yogurt
    1 cup of non-fat buttermilk
2 pieces of crystallized ginger (approx. 1 ounce)
2 ripe mango’s, peeled and chopped into small pieces
    ½ cup of crushed ice

    Method
In the blender purée the fruit and ginger, scraping down the sides as necessary. Add the buttermilk, yogurt and ice and purée until smooth and frothy. Add crushed ice. Serve.

Thank you to Madge Dee for this recipe.

There is one that I make, that kind of tastes a bit like pumpkin pie

    Ingredients
    -1 ripe banana
    -1 tbsp peanut butter
    -1/2 cup milk
    -1 container of vanilla yogurt
    -few dashes of cinnamon
-1/2 tsp International Light Vanilla flavoured instant coffee beverage
-4-5 ice cubes (optional but makes it thicker)

    Method

Simply add all ingredients into blender, and Voila! a nutritious delicious smoothie.

In addition you can add protein or soy protein in place of the international coffee.

Just throw a cup of milk, a scoop of protein powder, a cup of fruit (strawberries, blueberries, whatever...) in a blender and go!

We just used our new Health Master Blender (Montel Williams).

It made enough for four to five servings:

    2 bananas peeled
    10 large strawberries stems removed
    1 pear quartered core removed
    1 naval orange rind removed

    1 cup milk
    1 cup ice cubes

Blended 30 seconds or less. Photos to be uploaded.

    3/4 cup vanilla yogurt
    1/2 cup ice cold water
    1 cup ice cubes
1 big slice of mango no peel
    1 banana no peel
    1/2 cup blueberries
    10 large stemmed strawberries

Delicious! I am amazed that this has helped me with my soda craving.

I think that this is more like a soft ice cream but,I freeze either strawberries, blueberries etc., then put them in the food processor (frozen) with: milk or cream (waistline determines), honey, nutmeg, vanilla and anything else you might think will make it yours. I love this, since it is like a custard. Hope you like it.

Pears seem like they would be light and the right texture to make a good smoothie.

I like to freeze my pealed bananas and berries for my smoothies. I don't have to worry about them over ripening and I always have them on hand.

I buy mixed frozen fruit, fill blender about 1/2 full, add 1 scoop Whey Protine, top off with almond soy milk intil about 2" over the top of the fruit. Blend until smooth. If it starts freezin up, add more milk. Low calories and you are getting a lot of protine.
