Monday Morning Plans

Do you start your week by planning it ahead of time or are you more bohemian like in your approach to life?

If you plan your week and days is that the same way you are with your meals? ie. you know what you are going to have for each meal, each day or do you eat based on your desires of the moment?

I go with the flow. I dont plan anything. It never works out when I do. I planned to go to Florida and right as we were about to leave my pig started to have babies and it put me several hours behind. I just let it all happen.

I'm a little of both. I like to have work planned out and our meals are figured out before I go shopping. However, I'm laid back enough to be cool with change. We don't have set days for meals - just a weeks' worth and sometimes, even though I planned it, I don't have time for fried chicken, so chicken casserole takes the day.

do you have a freezer full of pre-made, home made, frozen sauces and soups and other goodies for emergency occasions?

I want to have a freezer full of premade homemade food but that takes a full day a week of cooking. There is a way to do it all on Sunday for the week and then freeze what you make. I just dont have a full day of the week to do that.

No - I have lots of things that are helpful and I used to do OAMC (Once a Month Cooking), but haven't had the time for a full-out cook fest like that. Now I buy IQF (individually quick frozen) chicken breasts - have chopped onion, celery, peppers, carrots on-hand in the freezer and chicken stock at the ready. Nothing major, though. I just use the ingredients purchased for a specific meal in a different way if need be.

I use to have to do creative cooking. I would buy ingredients and my neighbor would steal food and Iwould have to ome up with something diffrent. Now I just throw stuff together when I get to cooking.

Best plans laid to rest because Mondays are a continued blur from late Sunday nights spent in front of the television, curled up on our big comfy sofa with my Joe. It is an intimate moment of time where the phones are not ringing, the studio is quiet, the kitties are asleep and we can breathe a sigh of relief. Mondays are a slow start and the hurry-up-attitude falls short while we embrace the eye-opening coffee. Joe takes hours to get out of the house and I am still folding laundry from the night before. By the time he leaves, I want to lounge about and catchup on reading. An afternoon nap gets me through until It is time to feed the kitties and mosey on over to give the members of Half Hour Meals a huge hug hello.

Unless I have definite plans for early Monday, my morning turns into 8PM and then I am up for hours.

I am going to make Monday morning plans this weekend and see if an earlier start to my Monday will make the week take on a more upbeat tempo.

This Monday is a Federal Holiday and for sure we will be sleeping in. I will fix French Toast and Omelets and we will read the morning Washington Post. Probably we will go to see a movie and later watch the sunset, if the weather permits.
