Saturday Afternoon and Night Get Together

Let's get together and hang out this afternoon and in to the evening?
We can each of us choose some recipes here on HHM site and discuss what we like about them.

i am here finally. I fought with electronic appliences all day and thru my hands in the air and gave up. I finally got it took care of.

lol Photobucket is messed up atleast for me tonight I loaded it under a new account and they all look that big. I have it set like the other one so I have no clue. I am having a bad electronic day tonday. They hate me. -
Guess what? Today, before we left home, I turned on the TV and there she was, Julia and Master Chef from India. The same as the book I posted a photo of and she was crushing up spice after spice and roasting seeds in the skillet and washing her basmati rice 5 X's and then allowing it to soak for 30 minutes. Then she gently drained the water, being sure not to break her rice. Then she sauteed it in some hot oil, shallots, curry leaves and 2 cups freshly chopped parsley, gently stirred it added 1 2/3 cups chicken stock, covered it tightly and baked it. She said to be very careful when fluffing it up, so it would not break the rice. Now I understand why my basmati rice was sticky and gooey! Ha! 1 cup dry rice to 1 1/4 cups liquid.-
That is something else I cant cook rice. Pastry and rice are hard for me for some reason. But I refuse to use boil n bag rice

I was brought up on long grain rice, Uncle Ben's and it turns out very well. After trying rice Jasmine and Basmati, I really liked it but when I tried to make it it was not the correct way. Check out MPT.org PBS cooking Julia and Master Chefs play date November 14th @ 3PM. I know they have web site and toll free number. Maybe you can see if you can watch the same episode on your computer.
Once you see someone do it, it's pretty easy to give it a go.
As far as pastry goes, that is the reason I attended culinary school for Pastry Arts. I would do it again had I the funding.

i will look that up. I am thinking about taking some classes at the college and maybe they have a pastry class. I need that and want to learn how -
cool added to my favorites too they have pbs kids on there and Wesley needed something besides Scooby Doo I have watched them all in two weeks even in spanish and greek lol -
Woo Hoo Julia just made a beschemal sauce, and she is going for the cheese souffle`. We are fortunate to have her on video. -
I cant get a tv signal here at all. I dont have cable so i watch stuff on line. I have watched all the iron chef americas so far but she is loading more. I switched to good eats because I love that show science and food.-
I have one of his cook books and made the cardboard box smoker to smoke salmon. I have fun with his style of cooking. I watched one last night and was going to make his yorkshire pudding using sausage grease for breakfast and my blender broke. I went to Hardee's and got a biscuit on the way to get feed.
Buckey said Hi. He is getting bigger but ran from the camera today. lol

He came up to Jr (Hubby) this morning and let him pet him and play with him. His colors are still there so he will forever be that color. -
His mom is a duroc and she is red like our ruby and his dad was a yorkshire or a pink pig of some kind. He has a big red spot on his other side on his neck too. He is easy to spot in the 9 babies we have right now. He is the leader of the group. He loves to come to the back door for scrapes. Hubby is fixing the fence tommorrow so they dont get out.
