Wow. It's been a while since our last get together and it would be lovely to catch up.

Pot luck or not, just stop in and chat for a bit tomorrow after 6PM EST. I'm looking forward to finding out what you've been doing lately.

Pizza and Beer or Soda sounds good.

I was only away for a few minutes. guess what! I heard some frantic scratching noises and went to investigate. Good thing I did because Monseiur, our 19 LB tuxedo cat was frantically trying to find purchase and was hanging from the edge of the loft. He couldn't pull himself up and I told him hold on, hold on! I ran down the spiral staircase, and climbed up on the curve of the red sofa, placed my foot on the cat tree (scratching post tree) and reached up to take hold of him. He allowed me to get him down to the top of the freezer. Then I told him I was going to get him down. I held him like a baby against my chest (chest to chest) and eased both of us down to the sofa cushions. Whew! We were both visibly shaken and I told him not to climb up there again. He jumped down but I picked him up again and cradled him close and spoke soothingly to him.

One might ask why in the world do we have a 6 foot freezer in our living room. Well, I did not want to give up my freezer when we moved from the house to the condo. I had to leave my new refrigerator behind but I was adamant about taking this with us. They hauled it up four flights of stairs Boom, Boom, Boom, all the way to the top floor, and not knowing where in the world to place it, we put it into the corner of our master bedroom, which is pretty large. We decided we would figure it out later. A year later, and ice damming later, we had to move it because the water coming into the window did a bit of damage. The estimate was $3,699. and some cents. So that's the reason the freezer is in the living room and we are considering donating it to our church and getting a much smaller one that won't be so noticeable. I really don't want to give it up and if we ever get another house, or townhouse, I can always buy another one.

You know, perhaps there is a family from church who could really use the freezer (it's almost brand new), and they would be happy to have it. I think I will check tomorrow as this would make me feel good and letting it go would be such a hard thing after all.

Yes, I am looking forward to talking tomorrow. The recent daunting daily things have been a little crazy lately.

I'm watching "Chopped" on the food channel. Earlier there was a food carving competition and I was amazed at the talent those chefs have. Does anyone here know how to do fruit and vegetable carving?

Hello I have had two hours of sleep as I have been glued to the television set, flipping from channel to channel, awaiting the tsunami to hit Hawaii. I feel so sorry for the victims of the Chilean earthquake and the ones who have died as a result of the tsunami that has hit smaller islands in the Pacific.

I did not eat today except for half a bowl of cereal, so I have not photos of food, but I do have conversation and want to catch up with everyone.

So tell me what you have been doing lately and if there is anything new that you are thinking of trying soon.

I have also been watching about the earthquake and the tsunami. We did get the snow and now it is a mess because it has gotten a bit warmer. I have started cooking again, but this week I just needed a break and we got pizza twice from our local pizzeria. Mike is such a part of my life and my kids. He watched my two grow up. It is nice to have a place like that, kind of like Cheers, a place where everyone knows your name. I find that comforting.

I am thinking about making sweet dough and buttercream icing and storing them in the freezer. Also pie dough and savory dough as well. I am determined to portion them and well wrapped, they will be on hand for pies and individual tarts. I also have a good pizza dough recipe which I intend to do the same. I find I have been ordering out more than I should because it is more convenient and I find I am not satisfied with the preparation of my food selections. My fault entirely. So with getting these things prepared ahead of time, I will be able to pull them out as needed. Puff pastry too. Now I have such a great rolling pin, I have no excuse.

I've just remembered that I need to get in touch with a company, local, named Adams Burch. They served the school and restaurants and hotels with products such as, plastic wrap (very large rolls), sheetpan sized parchment paper, which is so each because all you do is grab a sheet and place it on the large sheetpan. This way I will be able to properly and securely wrap the foods I am going to prepare and I can freeze them without any concerns.

I have a bread recipe of sorts to pass on. My friend Sam and I were playing in the bread dough last week and she made mushroom truffle salt bread. We rehydrated mushrooms and them put them in the food processer to make a paste. We then spread it and some truffle salt on the bread before we rolled it up into a loaf. It was the best bread with soup you will ever have. I was suprised. Then Friday she put chicken bullion and barbeque seasonings in the bread before we rolled it up and it tasted like bbq chicken.

Sometimes I want to bake and then I get out of the mood. I miss the professional kitchen. Too many distractions lately, but I'll be baking tomorrow for certain.

Have you heard Corrinne Bailey Rae's latest CD? It's called "The Sea". Really need to play it a few times in order to let it sink in. Excellent music.

I just fed the furry children and they are preening. Soon they'll be asleep again. Must be nice to be on permanent vacation. Meow.

Joe's on a gig tonight and when he gets home we'll watch a movie that I bought, 2012. We sw it in the theatre twice. I loved the computer graphics.

I know! Lately, I have been eating mostly shrimp and chicken, rarely beef or pork, Very seldom. I have been cooking lots of pastas and veggies but now need to wean myself down to veggies and fruits, because I seriously need to lose weight. Sitting around in front of the computer and not exercising has not helped. I have to give myself tough love.

The playground and baseball and soccer fields are outside behind our condo and the kids were outside this week shouting, laughing, playing, screaming, squealing and the teacher's whistle blowing, were what I needed to hear so I am certain that spring has arrived. There is talk of more snow next week, but it'll not stop the flowers and grass and trees from blooming. At least we did have a real winter for a change.

I made pesto dip and veggies, cheese platter and hummus dip. I made a big pot of sauce with meatballs, sausage and some left over londen broil all in the sauce. I choose ziti to put the sauce on. I made a salad, garlic bread and a pork rib roast stuffed with garlic, Romano cheese, rosemary, parsley and a marinade of lemon, balsamic vinegar, garlic and rosemary. Yes, Theresa they did bring a Carvel cake, chocolate and vanilla. I also made some cupcakes for the little ones, we were about 17 people. I did this pretty fast though because I didn't know they were coming until about 7 pm the night before. It turned out to be very nice. Last minute is sometimes the best.

Oh, Happy Birthday all over again Catherine. You are such a Lady Gourmet, and you spoil everyone, too. A good thing to do.

When we lived on Staten Island, (ages four thru seven and a-half), we would all jump into the family station wagon and drive to Victory Blvd to Carvel's. We would choose between cones, saucers and sundaes and get curb service. We ate the ice cream and then we would laugh at almost everything one of us would say. We had brilliant times together.

I miss the daily scent of the sea. I wish my husband would say we could move to NYC!
