Who has used or heard of this before? I found it at the Amish store and she told me that it is used in canning. They have a clear and one not so clear variety.
I also found whole milk (cream and all) in the store today. I was floored. I made really good mash potatoes with it. It has butter fat on the lid when you open it and you have to shake it up. With the whole milk and real amsih butter I made heart attack potatoes. I also got some fresh pork from one of the pigs we sold. (They brought us some loin and sauasge today)
Does any one else get to use Amish or farm fresh foods? Where do you get them from inquiring minds want to know.

I stop in the farms near my daughter's college (she's at Kutztown U) and get produce and sometimes baked goods. I just used honey I picked up and we like the shoo fly pies and angel food cakes they sell. The dairies all sell to big companies so we never find anything dairy based. We can get eggs and one farm sells meats but we haven't stopped in yet.-
I went to Kutztown in the late 90's! There is (or was) a great place to buy fresh meat out there called Dietrich's Meats. If you exit 78 West at 737 and make a right after exiting. Then make a left on Old Rt. 22 and it's on your left not too far down. www.dietrichsmeats.com/

There is a dutch store in our town and I keep meaning to go there. I will try the butter and the milk. Amybyrd, we used to get milk in the bottles, delivered every two days and when we would peel back the silver foil top, there would be cream at the top of the bottle. We washed the bottles and the milkman would replace them with full bottles. I miss him. SOmetimes he would bring eggs.
