I'm very curious to hear about people's top 3 kitchen items/utensils! My latest post listed my three that I thought were key - instant read thermometer, cast iron skillet, and a zester. What are yours?

I love my cast iron griddle, my large frying pan and of course my kitchen aid heavy duty mixer. I do have some more "cannot do without" gadgets but for now that is what comes to mind.

I learned in Food Safety class that any wooden instrument or utensil takes a full three days to dry after washing. It made me think about cutting boards, for sure.

Did you know that wood has a natural bacteria-killing property? True! I remember the plastic boards in school - if they weren't completely dry and got stacked together the smell was enough to knock a person over! I have wood and plastic - both for different purposes.

Wood does indeed have its downfalls, bamboo thankfully less. I oppose myself to using plastic due to its health hazards too though. I actually have three bamboo boards going at once. Thankfully each has its own design, so it is easy for me to distinguish them:
      1. Plastic is not water-absorbent, so it stays wet longer, which means longer bacterial survival.
      2. Wood is water-absorbent, so it dries faster, which means shorter bacterial survival.
      3. Wood contains natural antibiotic agents that retard bacterial growth.
Here is an interesting article on which cutting board to use:

This morning it is my new electric hand mixer (boy, does it have power), My turkey roasting pan (it is great for meats too), and my crock pot, which I intend to put back into action. I have only used this one (I've had it two years) twice. I am taking Penny's lead and going to slow cook. Thanks Penny.

My All-Clad 3 quart sauté pan, Shun Classic 8" chef's knife, and a fish spatula are the most important tools. Three basic food items are garlic confit, fleur de sel, and Villa Manodori balsamic vinegar. But honestly, asking someone who has nine different salts in his pantry to pick three items is silly.

I have to say that my three favourite things in the kitchen have to be my large deep sided fry pan/skillet, my swiss veggie knife (always sharp) which makes peeling potatoes a breeze, and my silicone spatula.
But if you meant three food items i guess they would have to be garlic, olive oil and lemons

We watched an infomercial a week ago with Montel Williams. We got the Health Master, on Friday and are getting ready to make smoothies, Vegetable drinks and more. It makes hot soup from raw vegetables to soup bowl in just EIGHT MINUTES.

With this implemented in our lifestyle, we will be eating even healthier than before. You don't even have to peel the potatoes or tomatoes or carrots, etc., so the nutrients are there. Fruits and vegetables in abundance, meat and seafoods on the decline, and moreration on the carbohydrates.

It counts as three for sure.

That is fantastic Theresa. I do not have such, but a juicemaker and use if a good few times a week as well as the blender for smoothies.

Am sure that will be perfect for a nice gazpacho (cannot wait to make it once whether is warmer)
