The weekend is upon us, It's the wee early hours of Saturday morning and many of us will share meals with family, friends or just stay at home to enjoy good food and a relaxing weekend.

I love getting together once I am there but I have to try to relax on the road trip over. The highways around Washington, DC are tense.

Once the parties start there is a special mix of how brought which dish and the familiar exchange of recipes and cooking tips.

Have you decided what you will contribute? Why did you make this choice and in case we ask, be prepared to give up the secrets to your guarded recipes.

Happy Labor Day Weekend and a big welcome to our growing numbers of cooks and food lovers.

If I were here I would do steaks and baked potatoes. I make a really good roasted potato salad and I would grill some veggies. But I am not going to be home so I will be eating what ever is put in front of me.

You're going to be a good guest so I will send out thoughts that they serve all of your favorites. Enjoy!

Nothing! When we do grill out for holidays, I like to make my Lime Ranch Chicken:

Once I get a photo of it (can't believe I haven't already) I'll add it here!

No bake cheesecake. I'll make it and add a middle layer of chocolate mousse. Once assembled I will place it in the freezer and when it's time to set up I will use a HOT KNIFE to slice portions, wiping my knife between slices in order to keep each piece neat. Good Idea. Glad I stopped by.

We're not grilling out (cooking out) this year for Labor Day. But, back in May we had a party and grilled a wonderful Thai Peanut Chicken Satay . It was great. I also served a three bean Asian salad and for desert scones flavored with ginger and lemon.

I did my Labor Day weekend cooking this evening without really planning it, but it turned out nice. Had a few friends and family over and the menu was:
BBQ Chicken, corn on the cob, baked potatoes with all the trimmings of course, broccoli and cheese veggies, and a wonderful baby spinach salad with nuts and blue cheese crumbles.
    Desserts? But of course!
Couldn’t decide on only one, so decided to make two.
Anyone care to guess on what they might have been?
    What would you have made?

My invite got lost in the mail? You're going to make us guess? OK, cheesecake and strawberry pie. Am I close?

You could do it. A duet in the Food Tv Kitchen. I'd definitely watch.
