I have met so many foodies from Italy that when I get over there it'll be a neat visit and we can cook together in the kitchen and sit down to enjoy meal and talk. The more I think about it the more I am convinced I'll do it!

I think the Guild for NC Bloggers would be great. I have been kicking around the idea of inviting a few other NC food bloggers to my house for the weekend to talk about food blogs in particular. I mentioned this to a blogger from Florida and she wanted to come as well. I thought we would do some cooking and maybe go out to a good foodie restaurant, but mainly talk bout food blogging, photography, site promotion, etc. Let me know if you want some assistance, input, ideas, etc.

It took me a few minutes to find where I had seen it....on Facebook. I thought it was next week, but apparently it was this past Thursday the 29th at Pancuito in Hillsborough....I'm sorry!

Penny, I live in Durham. My wife loved the book and the movie, which we saw just before we went to Italy. I am curious where you found the information about the meal and book deal as I think this would be a great surprise present. I wish I could, but it's $150 per person which includes the meal, wine and a copy of her new book. I'd pay that much to meet Frances and get an autographed cookbook...just don't have time :(

When I go be assured that I will take my pillow, creamy super-soft throw and my tiny little (stuffed) dog. I actually hold him by his neck when I travel, to be safe. (Why are you looking at me that way? I told you that deep down inside a part of me is a childlike five). :) :) :) I like the new experience and believe in holding onto that thrilling feeling I get when doing something I long to do.

Otherwise I am sophistacated and worldly.

The whole Italian Riviera has amazing tiny restaurants. Areas around Santa Margherita, Portofino, etc. I prefer northern Italian food to Southern. That is in general. Also around Courmayeur there is a fantastic restaurant I believe it is called La Maison de Filippo. Outstanding food. I am talking MANY years ago, it used to be fixed price and they just keep on bringing food.

My wife and I went 2 years ago and now we are saving our pennies to go again. When we went we did the classic tourist trip Rome, Venice, Milan and Florence. Next time we are spending more time in Tuscany and then traveling down the Mediterranean coast. I have always thought it would be fun to get a group of Italian foodies together and do the Tuscany tour. My mouth is watering just thinking about it.

I loved the movie Under The Tuscan Sun, and whenever HGTV's , House Hunter International is on, I pay particular attention to Americans and Europeans who travel to Italy to buy homes.

You can tell they are dreaming about cooking in their very own Italian kitchens; after a lot of renovations are completed. So many times people with money buy ruins and then build or renovate. The kitchen is that special room that always gets so much attention.

Why is the thought of living and cooking in Italy so romantic? Does anyone out there besides me want to travel there?
