It has been decades since we have had a wedding of this magnitude. Millions worldwide will be watching Prince William marry his bride, Kate Middleton. on Friday, April 29th, 2011.

It is reported kate's parents will spend $163,000.00 on this royal ceremony, gowns, flowers, dinners, hotels, and banquets.

This makes me wonder who the caterers are and what they will be serving. I would be nice to have a list of the foods to read.

Tell me, will you be watching in the wee hours of the morning, or record it? I wonder if any HHM member received an invitation to this global event.

If you were to prepare one dish for the newly married couple, what would serve to them and why?

Since I'm up in the wee hours anyway, I'll probably watch on BBC America. As for serving them a dish... I would think a Galette filled with almond cream and strawberries as an updated version of a dish served to Cousin Anne on her most UN-fortuitous wedding day in 1533. Hopefully, this Kate will have better luck than Anne and her cousin Kate with royal spouses!

It appears the rest of the catering is being kept "in house" at Buckingham Palace by the chefs and staff there. www.youtube.com/watch?v=TbUz1YZ9Pdo&feature=player_embedded

Buck, A Galette would be so pretty! Thanks for this link and the video. I'll be back in a while to watch it. That huge Hobart mixer is what I'm used to using. Miss that Hobart! This is exciting and entertaining coming our way.

Yes. Let us hope it will prove a fortuitous day for all concerned!

The wedding is this Friday. While not the same excitement as Lady Diana and Prince Charles on their day, this is a sweet occasion for their son and his bride. I have been watching the programs about the upcoming nuptials.

Due to the tornados and harsh weather we had Wednesday and into Thursday, I was not able to get the party off the ground. My heartfelt prayers go out to those families, businesses and homesteads, and animals, who were lost. This is a very sad tragedy, Two huge waves of tornados have ravaged our states this month.

I am awake and also recording the 5.5 hours of the Royal Wedding. I will be around Friday night (about 7:45 PM) to share thoughts and foods for the lovely couple.

Was bright eyed and bushy tailed for the big event. It was beautifully arranged, and everything was done with precision. They look well pleased with one another and I believe in love.

I was sound asleep during the wedding, BUT then decided to check cnn and saw bits and pieces of it. I must say wow... she was stunning. Simplicity at its best.

She certainly has poise, grace and style. The tabloids, press and magazines are happy now they have such a stunning couple to talk and write about. I just hope the paparazzi are respectful.

I was very impressed with her elegance and understated grace. Truly a gorgeous young lady. I couldn't help but compare her simple grace with that of her late mother-in-law (or lack thereof) at her wedding with those hideous balloon sleeves and mile long train. The new Duchess of Cambridge seems to know that the greatest asset to beauty is simple adornment!

That said... what the devil got into the princesses of York? Those had to be two of the most hideous dresses and hats in attendance! Princess Eugenie's hat was particularly garish and all I could think was that it looked like some sort of bizarre rhinoceros horn gone awry! And why she chose a dress the color of silly putty with a collar that looked like it was made from a grannie's antimacassar escapes me. Princess Beatrice's dress looked like a Monet painting exploded all over her. And the raccoon eye makeup did not help either girl! Oh my!

I was greatly impressed by the combination of modern simplicity and traditional pomp in both the ceremony and the surrounding events. A great day to be British or a member of the empire or a former member of the empire! I only wish we had something like this in the USA that was non-political and could serve to bring us together as a nation regardless of political ideology.

Oh, and I watched while eating Walker's Shortbread and drinking a cup of Earl Gray.
