1 1/2 cups Brown Sugar
3/4 cup butter
1 1/2 cups flour
1/2 cup sesame seeds
1 tsp vanilla
1/4 tsp baking powder
Preparation
Note: traditional Charleston cooks toast the Sesame seeds before using in the cookies. This is usually done stovetop by placing the Sesame seeds in a pan with a little butter or oil and lightly sauteing. However, it is not absolutely necessary but don't tell the ladies from the Junior League I said so!
Cream butter and sugar together and mix with other ingredients in the order given. Drop with a teaspoon onto a well-greased cookie pan, far enough apart to allow spreading while baking. Bake in a 325ยบ F oven for 7-10 minutes.
Yield: 7 dozen.
