Buffalo Chicken Pizza

Submitted by:

Description

Buffalo chicken pizza is a spicy food lovers spin on good old pizza pie. This is a fantastic dish to serve at events like the SuperBowl and you'll likely find that most of your friends have never tried it, so you'll get extra points for originality. This pizza rocks - you'll definitely want to try this dish!

You can adjust the ingredients to suit your individual taste. For instance, you might want to use a bit more buffalo wing sauce than I have listed depending on your ability to handle the heat. If you wish, you may even want to amp up the spice by adding your amount own hot sauce to the sauce base.

I used Frank's Red Hot Buffalo Wing Sauce for my dish - you can use this or any other wing sauce you prefer. Frank's is my favorite but it does have a distinct taste that some people do not enjoy.

add to shopping list Ingredients

2 chicken breasts
1 1/2 cup Buffalo wing sauce
3 cups mozzarella cheese
1/2 tsp Garlic Powder
1/2 tsp Oregano
1 Pizza dough (fresh or frozen)
1/2 tsp Salt & Pepper
1/2 tsp chili powder

Preparation

1) Prepare your pizza dough as you usually would. I usually buy a frozen prepared pizza dough portion that is good enough for one large pizza. If you wish to make your own dough from scratch, I applaud your effort! :) It will make this dish that much better. You'll want to flatten the dough like usual and build up a bit of a edge for your crust.

2) Prep work - chop your chicken breast into small cubes. It is important to ensure that these are chopped up small enough to make each slice of pizza light and easy to light, otherwise it'll turn into a sloppy mess.

3) In a skillet pan, add your chicken, garlic powder, chili powder, salt and pepper. Cook the chicken until the pink is gone. Important that you don't overcook the chicken as it will continue to cook in the oven. In the last minute of cooking, add a few spoonfuls of your wing sauce to coat the chicken in the pan. You can add a bit of your cheese to the chicken mix, too, to thicken it up a bit.

4) Preheat your oven to 400° and throw your crust in for 5 minutes once ready. This will let the crust create a bit of an edge to ensure the dough and sauce doesn't create a gooey mess.

5) Remove the crust from the oven and add your sauce to the base. You'll want to add about 1/3 of your cheese on top of the sauce.

6) Spread your chicken over the pizza, and finish with the rest of your cheese. Bake in the oven for another 15-20 minutes, watching carefully for the last 5-10 minutes to ensure your edges don't burn.

Enjoy! This is a fantastic pizza dish that you'll want to make again and again.
