Here's a good chili to have for dinner
during the winter time. It's easy and delicious.
12 ozs. ground beef
1 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup chopped green bell pepper
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 15 oz. can kidney beans
1 14 oz. can diced tomatoes with juice
1 8 oz. can tomato sauce
2-3 tsps. chili powder
1/2 tsp. crushed dried basil
1 tsp. cumin
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. black pepper
In a large saucepan, cook the ground beef, onion, green bell pepper, and garlic until ground beef is browned. Drain off the fat.
Add kidney beans, tomatoes, tomato sauce, chili powder, basil, cumin, salt, and black pepper. Bring mixture to a boil, stirring constantly. Reduce heat. Simmer, covered for 20 mins. You can garnish the chili with shredded cheddar cheese or monterey jack cheese.
This is great served with corn tortilla chips as well.
