Savory French Onion Soup
Description
This a good soup for the winter time.
I learned to make this soup while learning to cook at my home town restaurant.
add to shopping list Ingredients
4 ozs. Au Jus mix
1 gal. water
1 tsp. basil leaves
3 bay leaves
1/2 tsp. black pepper
1/2 lb. dehydrated onion slices
1/4 dry white wine
17 slices french bread
1-1/2 shredded swiss cheese
Preparation
Add au jus mix to boling water. Reduce heat.
Add basil leaves, bay leaves, pepper, and onions. Simmer 20 mins.
Remove bay leaves. Add wine.
Toast french bread and place 1 slice in a bowl.
Ladle 8 ozs. soup over bread.
Sprinkle 1 oz. swiss cheese on top.
Broil for 1 min. Garnish with chopped parsley or chives. Serve immediately.
