Fried Lemon Catfish
Description
Here's an old southern catfish recipe. My husband's aunt gave me this delicious recipe for fish. He enjoys this dish.
add to shopping list Ingredients
3 lbs. catfish fillets
1 cup cornmeal
1 tsp. paprika
1/4 tsp. dry mustard
1/2 tsp. onion powder
1/2 tsp. celery salt
1 Tbsp. lemon zest
slat and pepper to taste
1/2 cup milk
Preparation
In a mixing bowl combine cornmeal, paprika, dry mustard, onion powder, celery salt, lemon zest, salt, and pepper.
Dredge the catfish in the milk, then the cornmeal mixture. In a large frying pan, heat with oil. Place catfish in the pan. Cook fish until browned on both side. You can garnish the fish with thinly cut lemon slices.

there was a FoodTV competition on the other night and the contestants had to fillet and cook a dish using catfish. they should have had this recipe for the judges. Well done.
This looks good! I've only eaten Catfish once and liked it. It was while on vacation in Florida. Our grocery stores up in MA do not sell Catfish often, but I have your recipe the next time I see it in our fish dept. Thanks!
my mother was from Arkansas and we had catfish frys often. Her recipe was similar but only flour, cornmeal, salt & pepper, yours sounds much better since I like more spices than may parents did. I will try this as soon as possible. thanks!
yum yum yum...love catfish and your spice mix with the cornmeal sounds great. Thanks for sharing the recipe.
Catfish is one of my family's favorite dishes. I gotta try this recipe, especially with the different spices....can't wait!
