Green Bean Casserole with Onion Straws
Description
This is a delicious green bean casserole that goes great with just about anything. I'd recommend it for a side dish during a turkey dinner, but it could go well with any type of roasted meat dish. Feel free to experiment with the ingredients!

1 can low-sodium mushroom soup
1 medium sweet onion
6 ounches fresh mushrooms
1/2 teaspoons fresh ground pepper
1 cup skim milk
1 pound frozen green beans
2 gloves garlic
1 teaspoon Paprika
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1 serving onion straws
Preparation
- Preheat oven to 400 F and prepare a casserole dish
- Heat 1 tablespoon of your preferred cooking oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Add chopped onion, salt, pepper, paprika, mushrooms and garlic, stirring often until the onion and garlic is translucent.
- Combine your can of mushroom soup with 1 cup of skim milk in a separate bowl and then add to the saucepan. Bring to a simmer.
- Combine the mixture from the saucepan with the green beans in your casserole dish. Bake for 15 minutes, or until casserole is bubbling. Let cool before serving -- it'll be super hot!
- Add onion straws to the top to complete the dish -- this is of course optional, but adds a great deal to the dish.
