Japanese Temaki Zushi

This Recipes is How to make Japanese Hand Rolled Sushi (Tenaki Zushi). I have made easy step to make your own with the family. During the summer vacation, kids love to make this with there friends. Once you get the hang of making your own, you can use others ingredients that you may want to try your self. I hope you enjoy this recipe.

add to shopping list Ingredients

2 cups Cooked Rice
10-15 sheets Toasted Seaweed (Nori)
5 slices Tuna (Cut into 12 slices)
5 slices Salmon (Cut into 12 slices)
3 tbsp Salmon Eggs
1 Cucumber (Cut into 8cm lenght)
3 Eggs (Egg roll cut into 12 strips)

Preparation

1. Make sushi rice.
2. Place the “Nori” square diagonally in your left hand.
3. Place the your favorite ingredients over the rice on top of the nori.
4. Fold the edgesof the nori into form a cone shaped roll.

Now, this is sushi that even I can make! I like the fluted look better than the usual rolls, and you make it sound so easy to do. I don't have access to fresh and safe fish, can you provide an alternate for that part?

Hiya Anniepooh, Sorry to get back to you so late. You can try the following, Can Tuna or anchovies, Steamed Chicken Slices, Ham Slices, any type of your favorite vegetables.(Vegetables I use avocado, cucumbers, and carrots. Oh one more I forgot, fish cake. I hope this help you out.

Anniepooh, there are companies that will ship fresh fish to you overnight packed in dry ice from places like Seattle, San Fran, etc. I'm sure it's not the cheapest option, but will get you the best fish.

An important point: you have to get high grade tuna for (i) taste, but more importantly (ii) health reasons. If you're paying $10 a pound, you're asking for disappointment.

Thanks for posting. Sushi is hard for the initiate, but a lot of fun to make.
