Kid Recipes

Cooking is a fun activity that you can share with your children that can bring out their creativity and help build self esteem. It is also a way to get children to try new things and eat healthier. If you start them out young, they can learn that cooking doesn’t have to be difficult, and that it can be really rewarding! Young chefs are popping up every day and bringing their fresh ideas to the culinary world. Who knows, your child could be the next Rachael Ray or Bobby Flay. So next time you are in the kitchen cooking dinner and your child wants to help; let them! Include them in cooking and hopefully they will develop a passion for it, just as you did.

These simple fruit kebobs are an easy snack that you can make with your kids. Kebobs are a fun way to get your kids to eat more fruits, and we all know they can be finicky about eating healthy, so these are the perfect cure. Let them choose their own fruits, help slice them, and arrange them on their sticks however they choose. The easy dipping sauce adds to the fun as well. This quick snack idea will be a hit for picnics and parties too!

This makes a great side dish, but once the kids try it, it will become their main dish. The directions were made simple enough for a ten year old or a real beginner cook wanting to go beyond "Take Out" or "Boxed Dinners". Great for "Pot Luck Dinners" too.

Potpie is a simple dish that get kids to actually eat their vegetables. Something about the pie crust and creamy sauce just seems to make them forget the veggies are even there. One way to make potpie more fun for kids is to make them individual sized pies. Let your kids help prepare their pies and they will enjoy them even more. This is a super quick meal that is healthy too, and your kids will love it!

Peanut butter is loved by kids all over the world. Some eat it with jelly, some with honey, some with sugar, or some just plain. This simple recipe is one that I am sure your kids will enjoy. It combines peanut butter, one of their favorite things, with bananas, one of their favorite fruits (at least my kids love them). Drizzle on some honey to give it some added zing, and you have a quick meal that kids will love to make and love to eat even more!
