A great dish for potluck dinners. One of the terrific aspects to this dish is you can change it to suit your preferences. To make it more of an entree mix in meats of your choice. Add vegetables such as broccoli and onions to give it more texture.
2 cups uncooked macaroni noodles
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1/8 teaspoon Garlic Powder
2 cups milk (can use 2 percent or whole)
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
Boil pasta according to package directions; drain.
While cooking pasta, melt butter in a medium saucepan.
Stir flour, salt (to taste) and pepper in with the butter.
Add milk gradually to the mixture; simmer, stir occasionally until it's thickened.
Remove from heat. Add 1 1/2 cups of shredded cheese and stir until melted.
Add macaroni to sauce (if it fits into the pan}; otherwise, pour sauce out into a mixing bowl and add pasta. Then place combined pasta and sauce into casserole dish and top with remaining 1/2 cup of cheese (you can mix cheddar cheese with other cheese if you like and add more to suit your taste).
Bake at 350 degrees for approximately 30 minutes or until cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
Great recipe! I've always thought it would be more complicated to make Mac&Cheese, but I love your easy explanation. Yummy :)
