1/2 cup Sugar
3/4 cup Brown Sugar
3/4 cup old fashioned oats
1 cup flour
21/2-3 lbs apples(macs,empire,fugi,gala)prefered
1/3 cup apple cider/ applesauce can be used
1 tbsp+tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 stick butter
Preparation
Using a 2-3 qt. casserole dish, peel apples, core+slice. Add to casserole dish. Add then 1/2 cup of the brown sugar, the apple cider or applesauce if no apple cider available,Add the nutmeg and 1 tbsp. of brown sugar to the apples in the casserole dish. Mix Well and set aside. For the topping you need a medium to large bowl. Put the butter in the bowl and melt the butter in microwave until fully melted. Then add the 1 cup flour, 3/4 cup oats, 1/4 cup remaining brown sugar,1 tsp. cinnamon, 1/2 cup sugar. Mix completely well till all is adhered well with each other. Evenly add topping over apples in order to coat apples completely. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cover casserole dish, (I recommend putting a baking sheet under the casserole dish to ensure no excess spillage happens. Once oven preheated, put casserole dish in oven for 30-35 mins. Then uncover for 25-35 minutes. This is to allow the topping to get a nice hardened crust.(preferrably once the topping is a darker brown, but not burnt color). Remove and serve hot or let slightly cool. Serve with Vanilla ice Cream or whipped topping. Enjoy!!
