1 can of tuna, drained (I like the white chunk albacore in water)
Chopped celery (optional)
Hardboiled eggs, chopped (optional)
Chopped pickles or canned relish (optional)
Shredded carrot (optional)
1/2 tablespoon yellow mustard
3 tablespoons mayonnaise (use as much as you like)
Salt and pepper to taste
Sliced cheese (Muenster, cheddar, American, etc.)
Mini bagels, halved and toasted
Preparation
Have the kids help chop up their ingredients, make sure they are careful when using knives and teach them the correct way to handle them. In a large bowl, have them stir the tuna, mayo, and mustard together. Once combined, have them add salt and pepper and stir again. Now let each child pick their ingredients and give them a small amount of the tuna mixture in a separate bowl. Let them stir in the ingredients and mix it all up. Now take each mini bagel and toast it lightly in a toaster or toaster oven. They can now top the bagels with the tuna mixture and cover with their choice of cheese. Set the bagels on a cookie sheet and place in the oven (set on broil) and cook until cheese is melted. Yummy!
