These are my boyfriend's favorite cookies. He has never been a big chocolate fan (I know, unthinkable) but these fulfill his sweet tooth. This recipe came from Mary Butler Ringhand, who I believe is my Mother's great aunt. She knows how to make some great cookies. Try these with a tall glass of milk and just relax.
4 ½ cup flour
2 ½ cups butter
2 cups Brown Sugar
2 ½ teaspoons water
2 ½ teaspoons baking soda
2 cups white sugar
2 ½ teaspoons vanilla
5 eggs
5 cups oatmeal
3 cups raisins
Preheat your oven to 375 degrees. Sift dry ingredients and set aside in a large bowl. In another bowl, blend sugar, butter, vanilla, and water. Beat in eggs and then mix in flour. Mix well and add in oats and raisins. Grease a cookie sheet and drop spoon sized drops of dough about an inch apart. Cook for 10-12 minutes. Remove from oven and cool. This makes a lot of cookies, you could half the ingredients to make a smaller batch.
They look great and the recipe is like the one I use, so they must be yummy! I use half raisins and half craisins. Oatmeal Cookies are sooo good!
