Peanut Butter Cookies
Description
This is a simple recipe, but a great one. These chewy peanut butter cookies have been a favorite of mine since I was a child. My Mom would make these and I remember the house filling with the delicious smell. She would serve them up with some cold milk and she had some very happy kiddos!

1 cup brown sugar
1 cup white sugar
1 cup shortening (or ½ cup of butter and ½ shortening)
1 cup peanut butter
2 eggs (beaten)
1 teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
2 cups flour
Preparation
Mix all the ingredients thoroughly. It may help to mix your wet ingredients first, then add your dry in small increments while you mix. Drop by spoonful onto a greased cookie sheet. Press your fork down on the top of each mound in a criss-cross pattern. Bake at 350 degrees for about 15 minutes. Oven times will vary, so check them often. When they have turned a light brown color, they are done.
