Pesto is a beloved pasta sauce that is extremely versatile. It can be used on sandwiches, wraps, meats, and even salads. This pesto recipe is simple, yet tasty. In less than 30 minutes, you can have a quick, delicious meal on the table for your family. Throw in some vegetables or chicken and you have a whole other creation!
3 cloves garlic
2 cups fresh basil leaves
3 tablespoons pine nuts
1 dash salt and pepper
½ cup extra virgin olive oil
½ cup Parmesan cheese, grated
1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
Boil some water for your pasta, and cook according to the package directions. Drain and set aside.
In a food processor, add garlic and mince. Next add the basil, pine nuts, and the salt and pepper. While the processor is running, slowly pour oil into the opening at the top. Puree until all ingredients are mixed well. Last, add Parmesan cheese and mix again. If mixture is a little thick you can add a little more olive oil. Now toss your pasta with the sauce and mix until pasta is well coated. Garnish with red pepper flakes and more Parmesan cheese. Yum!
