A simple and healthy spinach dal
1/2 tomato
1/2 onion
2 green chili
10 mustard seeds
1 spoon sambhar powder
1 teaspoon turmeric
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup spinach
3 cloves garlic
Method
1. add dal, spinach, tomato, little onion, little tumeric 1 clove garlic to pressure cooker and cook till you hear one whistle.
2. fry mustard seeds (let pop) onion, curry leaves, garlic, green chili in canola oil, then add some sambar powder- more if you want it to be spicy
3. mix fried onions and spices with dal and boil 5 - 10 min add coriander/cilantro to garnish.
This sounds very delicious. Where would I get sambar powder? I had not heard of that spice before.
This sounds very nice, however, the one item omitted from the list of ingredients is the dal itself. What type are you using and what amount?
Also, clouda9, you can get sambhar powder in an Indian grocery store, best type is 777 Brand.
