Swiss & Mushroom Burgers
Description
We decided to make these delicious swiss & mushroom burgers tonight and they were a hit. It is January in Canada and not the best time to be barbecuing, but grilling these was definitely the way to go. Hope you enjoy these as much as we did!
We used crimini mushrooms rather than regular white button mushrooms as they have a bit of a richer mushroom flavour and seem to keep their texture a bit more when sautéed.

1 package crimini mushrooms
4 slices Swiss cheese
4 Hamburgers
4 whole wheat hamburger buns
Preparation
1) Pre-heat your barbecue on a medium/high setting. Once that is done, you can assemble your mushrooms.
2) I used my barbecue side-burner to sauté my package of crimini mushrooms. Start with a decent amount of olive oil. Make sure to season the mushrooms with a good amount of salt and pepper. Fry until the mushrooms are a nice golden brown and start to wilt slightly. Likely about 4-5 minutes. We also added some seasoning salt to give them a bit of extra flavour. Once finished, turn off the heat and cover the pan to keep the heat in to cook them a bit further.
3) Cook your burgers as you usually do. When the burgers are just about done, add a hearty amount of crimini mushrooms to each burger on the grill. Add a slice of swiss cheese to the top of the mushrooms - when the cheese melts, it'll help keep all of this in place.
4) Toast your buns for a minute or so. Pull the burgers, assemble and enjoy.
Highly recommend a nice, cold pint glass of Guinness to enjoy these with. Let me know how they turn out!
