This is one of my favorite desserts. Being part italian, I came to enjoy this
treat.
1/4 cup+ 1/3 cup sugar
3/4 cup espresso
1/4 cup brandy
1/3 cup egg substitute
1/3 cup sweet marsala
1-8oz. marscapone cheese(room temp.)
2 1/2 cup real whipped cream, divided
3 doz. ladyfingers
1 cup chocolate biscotti, crumbled
Syrup-Combine 1/4 cup sugar, 1/4 cup water, espresso, and brandy. Chill.
Filling-Combine egg substitute, 1/3 cup sugar, and marsala. Beat until thickened.
Fold in cheese and 1 1/2 cup whipped cream.
Dip ladyfingers in syrup for 5 sec. and layer 18 in a 10by10 inch pan. Top with a layer of filling. Repeat with 18 ladyfinger and filling. Chill for 8 hours or over night.
Spread with 1 cup whipped cream and sprinkle with crumbled biscotti.
I used to watch a chef make large hotel pans of this dessert, and I could smell all of the ingredients, plus the rum. It is a fabulous dessert and as a serving suggestion, You can scoop some into a martini glass, or tiny muffin cups or fine chocolate molds for dessert. Dust with 10X sifted sugar twice sifted, And then with dark cocoa powder on top. Clean the excess from the glass and impress your guests.
I absolutely love tiramisu. The first time I had tiramisu was at an Italian restaurant my family and I went to. So it gives me happy memories.
I would love to try and make it sometime. This looks very good and sounds delicious!
