Waldorf Salad

Submitted by:

Description

This recipe comes from my Mother's Aunt Barbara. Waldorf salad is such a simple recipe, but it has always been a favorite in my family. Whip this salad up when you have company coming over and it will be sure to please.

1 cup chopped celery
1 cup chopped apple
1 cup grapes, halved
1 cup chopped walnuts
1 cup Miracle whip

Preparation

Mix all the ingredients in a large bowl. You don't have to use all of the Miracle Whip if you prefer not to, just add it to taste. Serve cold on a lettuce leaf for a pretty presentation.

This is a retro salad and still one of the prettiest there is.

Being born and raised in NYC and having eaten at the Waldorf-Astoria on numerous occasions, this was always one of my favorites. Now here’s a twist that most are not familiar with: Lime Jell-O. Need I say more? :-D

I love this. However, I use Vanilla Yogurt instead of Miracle Whip. Mix it with a half cup sour cream! YUM!
