Candy Bar Cookies

Candy Bar Cookies

After major candy-receiving holidays like Easter or Halloween, we always have a surplus of sweet treats in the house -- more than my boys could possibly eat, and MUCH more than I WANT them to eat. I don't want it around tempting me either! My solution is to make a batch of these cookies. Candy bars are chopped up and stirred into the cookie dough. When the batch of cookies is gone, so is the temptation! You can use any combination of candy bars you like for this recipe. The recipe makes 9 dozen cookies, so feel free to halve it, or to make it all and freeze half; it freezes really well.

In this recipe, chicken strips are breaded, fried, doused in hot sauce, and sandwiched between flour tortillas with avocado and cheese. The cool, creamy avocado counterbalances the spicy chicken perfectly. This is such a fun dinner to kick up your weeknight!

I've seen other versions of this sandwich floating around, but this version is my family's favorite. These sloppy joes really do hit all the same notes as a traditional Philly cheesesteak. They're finished with sliced provolone and a decadent, creamy, delicious cheese sauce. You'll want to make them over and over again!

These simple pumpkin cookies are my favorite fall cookie, and I make them at least five times every autumn. If you can't find cinnamon chips, use regular chocolate chips, white chocolate chips, or butterscotch chips.

Grilling season is nearly upon us, and these potatoes, which are cooked directly on the grill in a foil packet, are a must-try. Try topping them with shredded cheddar or Parmesan or a spoonful of sour cream. Don't have a grill? No worries! Just bake them in an oven set at 350 degrees F for about 30 minutes.

Rest assured, you won't find this macaroni and cheese in any box! Sweet roasted tomatoes and salty salami are stirred up with pasta in a creamy, cheesy sauce flavored with wine and pesto. Try replacing the salami with pepperoni, pancetta or prosciutto. It's a feast for the taste-buds. Mangia!
