Homemade Spaghetti Sauce

Homemade Spaghetti Sauce

Great Grandma Lucille was not one for using canned sauces; she preferred to make her own. Boy were we lucky when she would whip up some of her famous homemade spaghetti sauce! Her recipe is actually extremely simple, so I am not sure why more people don't make their own every once in awhile. The difference in taste is amazing! Use fresh herbs to really give it a homemade touch.

French fries are a common side dish to go with many American meals, but did you ever try sweet potato fries instead? Well if you haven’t, you are missing out! This simple recipe is easy to prepare and jazzes up the regular burger and fries combo. Plus, these are also healthier than regular fries because sweet potatoes contain vitamins A and C, which are both antioxidants. So the next time you are looking for a delicious addition to your quick meal, throw these babies in the oven and let them work their magic.

My step-mother makes this spinach dip for parties and I have been trying to get the recipe from her for years. At first inspection, the ingredients are actually very simple, but you would never know it from the taste. Serve with crackers, bagel chips, bread, veggies, etc. The possibilities are endless.

Pork loin is one of my favorite proteins because it can be prepared so many ways. Pork's mild flavor tends to match well with many different seasonings and sauces, but I especially love giving it some Asian flair. This recipe is simple, but the taste is phenomenal. Serve it with some steamed rice and vegetables and you have an amazing meal in less than 35 minutes!

I do believe chuck roast is one of the finest foods known to man. It fits my new 'slow' outlook on life and is well worth the wait. It absolutely takes me home - simple, delicious and hearty.

So many different recipes for making “Sangria” especially down South close to the boarder. Sangria can be experimented with different combination of fruits and even wine. Many even use brandy, club soda, claret, and Bordeaux. I prefer the simply version.

This is a simple recipe, but a great one. These chewy peanut butter cookies have been a favorite of mine since I was a child. My Mom would make these and I remember the house filling with the delicious smell. She would serve them up with some cold milk and she had some very happy kiddos!

Idle Hand Bars

These sinfully delicious peanut butter and chocolate dessert bars are out of this world. As a "sweet" fanatic married to a "salty" fanatic, it's always a struggle coming up with desserts that can be shared and devoured with equal gusto. These bars are the solution.

Here's an inventive take on jerk chicken. The Pick-a-peppa sauce gives it some spice, while the pineapple gives it some sweetness. Top it with some Monterrey jack cheese, for a little creaminess as well. You could even make this into a sandwich!

Dress up boneless chicken breasts by topping them with layers of prosciutto, thinly-sliced tomatoes and fresh spinach, then sealing those goodies on top with a slice of melted provolone cheese.

This was my Father's take on a pasta salad. He would make this recipe for dinner and then we would take the leftovers for lunch. It was great on hot summer days when you wanted something cool, but still filling. This would make a great addition to any picnic or outdoor barbecue as well, just substitute chicken for the tuna, or leave the meat out completely.
