Nanaimo bars have a custard layer in the middle. They might be along the same family (like a chocolate cake is related to a mocha cake), but I\'ll tell you right now, they are nothing alike.

Oh, my bad! There is 1 Tbsp. of butter in the chocolate. I\'ll try to edit. the recipe

Of course you can use other salt. You could try flaked salt, such as fleur de sel, or gray sea salt. If you can\'t find any or would rather not buy it, just use regular sea salt, but be sparing with it. If you REALLY don\'t want to do that, then go ahead and use regular salt, but don\'t use very much.
