Homemade Macaroni and Cheese

Homemade Macaroni and Cheese

As a child, my favorite food was macaroni and cheese. I would eat it morning, day, and night (to my mother's dismay). The funny thing is, now my son does the same thing. Although it isn't the makings of a balanced diet, it sure is one tasty side dish, and is ok to eat every once in awhile. This simple recipe is incredibly cheesy and decadent, but takes little effort to prepare. So, next time your kids are craving some mac and cheese, put that blue box down, and try making this quick meal instead.

Our entire family, and everyone else who has ever had this fudge, thinks it is to die for. I believe this recipe was originally from the back of a marshmallow creme jar and my Mom altered it a little. She makes this fudge every Christmas and boxes it up as gifts. It is so good that some people trade their gifts to get more fudge! Make it today and you will see why.

My Sister’s friend, Mary, used to make this dish all the time when we would come over and I always loved it. The crispy breading on the outside of the chicken mixed with the buttery goodness on the inside is the perfect combination. Make this next time you are having company and I promise you they will be impressed!

This is one of my favorite holiday desserts. I try to make something different each year for my family. They enjoy it very much. sometimes instead of drizzling choclate sauce on top, I like to use crushed peppermint candy and sprinkle on top or put christmas colored sprinkles on top too.

Bananas Foster has been one of my favorite desserts since I was a kid. I love the contrast of the warm caramelized bananas and the cold ice cream. This is a very simple version of this classic dessert recipe. Your guests will be impressed with the beautiful presentation and great taste, and they will never know it only took a few minutes to prepare!

One of my favorite recipes that my Grandma makes has to be this one. She is famous for her huge breakfasts because our whole family would always stay over during the holidays and wake up hungry. Even though we were a large group, Grandma always seemed to make enough food to feed an army instead. This casserole seems pretty simple to make, but it encompasses every breakfast flavor there is. Try it out and see if your family raves about it as much as ours does.

My Sister makes this for breakfast and it is almost addicting. It is super easy to prepare, but is extremely decadent tasting. You can make a cream cheese frosting to top it off if you really want to indulge. Your kids will definitely love it! (I think she may have named it for her little monkey...ok, child, Sam)

I love fresh salads, but I love salads that include fresh fruit even more. Crisp pears give this salad a fresh taste and crunchy texture. You can whip this salad up in a flash for a simple side dish, or even pair it with some soup and you have an entire meal. Homemade red wine vinaigrette tops this delicious salad off. Yum!

I remember I was a child when I first tried barbecue chicken pizza and I loved it. It was such an innovative way to make pizza and I really enjoyed the taste of the tangy barbecue sauce. This version is a simple recipe that you can easily make in a flash when you find out you are having company over last minute. Try it out tonight and see why it is my Mom's favorite pizza ever.

My Great Grandmother, Lucille, used to make these muffins. They are perfect to accompany any breakfast dish, or just eat them by themselves if you don't have much time in the morning. Refreshing citrus flavor makes these a hit at any brunch!

Cheesy hash brown casserole is a lifesaver when it comes to simple, delicious, side dishes. Not only is it easy to prepare, it also makes enough to feed a small army (Ok, I may be exaggerating a little, but you get my point). Serve it as a side dish, or even toss in some ham and turn it into a whole meal!
