Chocolate Chip Oreo Muffin

Chocolate Chip Oreo Muffin

Despite how they look, these muffins turn out quite chocolatey, particularly if you chop your Oreo's coarsely, giving you great Oreo chunks. A great muffin with a lovely crust, caving in to soft fluffy innards. I do, however, implore you to eat this fresh from the oven, or at the very least, don’t leave it overnight. Don’t get me wrong, it still tastes good the next day at room temperature, but it’s really a matter of whether you’re looking for a good muffin, or a great one

Quick Apple Turnover

Quick Apple Turnover

An unsuspecting tight lil package oozing with the sinful syrup of sweet caramelised apples that stains your lips with each sinful bite. And yet it strikes the exact balance, and draws the line before cloyingly sweet, which only makes you yearn for the next bite almost immediately after the first.

Peanut Butter and Chocolate Heart Cookies

Peanut Butter and Chocolate Heart Cookies

For someone who enjoys half of her toast with Nutella and the other half with peanut butter, every bite into this crunchy cookie ensures that you’ve got the best of both worlds. And it really is essentially a cookie within another cookie, particularly with the fact that you work on two different doughs almost concurrently, and you get to switch the cutout pieces around!

Lemon Tarts with Kaya Filling

Lemon Tarts with Kaya Filling

The lemon zest & juice amount I included in the batter was to taste, and the result was a rich and buttery tart base with an unmistakable lemon tanginess with every bite. The Kaya jam filling added a certain richness to the tart which makes you just sit back and enjoy the experience of the marriage between lemon, butter and Kaya crumbling away in the back of your mouth.

These cookies have the texture of shortbread cookies, and they simply melt in your mouth (hence the name). Other versions of these cookies include piped rosettes with a glaced cherry on top, as well as round balls covered with icing sugar.

Apple Streusel Torte

Soft, moist, and packed with juicy apples along with the added crunch of the streusel topping. The lemon zest is absolutely a must, since it adds a subtle yet wonderful flavour to the torte. Best served with a dollop of vanilla ice-cream.

Fluffy, soft, moist, and most importantly, fun to bake, this is suitable for an afternoon tea with friends and families.

Scones are a great snack or breakfast food.

Pomegranate Yogurt Cake

Pomegranate Yogurt Cake

The appearance is not much to ogle at, its sun-kissed skin is unadorned with contrasting colours, and the texture is not complex nor intriguing with a combination of flavours. But you will be bowled over by the subtle pomegranate aftertaste, you will be lost in the fluffy and moist texture of the cake, and you will appreciate the right amount of sweetness of the cake.

Carrots, apples, coconut, sultanas — doesn’t that sound healthy to you? :P Even if you’re not in need of that extra energy boost to start your morning, even if you don’t feel like stirring a mash of orange-green pulp in your mixing bowl, I would implore you to try this. Moist, not overly sweet, full of flavour and bite, this recipe is definitely for keeps. Or at least on those days when you want to feel healthier.
